Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung tours Ba Ria-Vung Tau province


Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on July 15 inspected the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in the first half of 2011 and seek solutions for the rest of the year in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The Government chief urged the locality to drastically follow the Cabinet’s Resolution 11 to rein in inflation, stabilize macro-economy, ensure social welfare and fulfill this year targets.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung recommended that the southern province should make the best use of local advantages in oil and gas exploration and exploitation, tourism, seaports and heavy industry to achieve rapid and sustainable development.

He asked Ba Ria-Vung Tau to mobilize all resources for synchronous infrastructure construction in all fields and to attach importance to training human resources, especially those with high qualifications.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau, as he said, should coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to speed up construction progress of the Thị Vải-Cái Mép deepwater seaport.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also stressed the need to combine economic development with social welfares, poverty reduction and environmental protection, health and education, and ensure sea and island security and defense.

General Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tuan Minh reported that, in the first half of 2010, the province’s GDP expanded at 12% and industrial production surged 14%.

Earlier, the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung visited the construction site of the first 90m jack-up drilling rig of Việt Nam which was invested by the Việt Nam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam)./
