Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung begins Ukraine visit


Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on October 4 arrived in Kiev, beginning a three-day official visit to Ukraine at the invitation of his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Azarov.

A welcoming ceremony for the Vietnamese Government chief was hosted solemnly in the morning at Borispol International Airport the same day.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit aims to speed up the realization of the joint declaration on establishing comprehensive cooperation partnership and other documents to strengthen bilateral relations.

Viet Nam and Ukraine have nurtured the friendly and cooperative ties in recent years.

Two-way trade turnover valued around US $260 million in 2010 and US $95 million in the first half of 2011.

Viet Nam chiefly exports rice, tea, coffee, rubber, seafood, garment and textile to Ukraine and imports iron, steel, fertilizer, machines, and chemicals from the Eastern European country.
